It’s here. We’ve just revolutionised our check-in experience with the launch of a new Express Bag Drop service at Dublin Airport, designed to make travel as seamless as possible. Ideally timed to coincide with the busy summer months and football fans jetting off to France this weekend, the new check-in facility is set to dramatically reduce the time it takes to check-in at the airport and to make lengthy queues a thing of the past.
The Express Bag Drop service, which is available year-round, enables you to self-tag and check-in your bags once you have their boarding card printed or downloaded to your mobile. In a matter of minutes, or even seconds, you can complete the check-in process, deposit your bag and proceed swiftly towards Departures.
The keys steps in the Express Bag Drop process include:
- Place bag on the scales
- Scan boarding card
- Attach luggage tag to the bag
- Place bag on the belt – job done!
We’ve been investing heavily over the last 24 months in improving Guest Experience. This latest innovation cuts the time our guests need to spend in the check-in area by at least 66%.
The project has been the largest single installation in Western Europe. It allows us to continue to grow the Aer Lingus business as we announce further exciting US and European routes, because it delivers an effective 200% increase in check-in capacity. We began piloting Express Bag Drop kiosks some months ago and already the feedback from our guests has been very positive.
The Aer Lingus check-in area at Dublin airport now boasts over 40 self-service Express Bag Drop kiosks which are available to all guests travelling with Aer Lingus. Our ground staff are on hand to help familiarise travellers using the new check-in facility for the first time.
Express Bag Drop is one of many initiatives we’ve introduced to ensure a seamless travel experience. Online and mobile check-in allows guests to arrive to the airport with boarding card in hand, avoiding any lengthy queues.
In addition, we offer an evening before check-in service in Dublin and Cork Airports, which is particularly beneficial to families. The service gives travellers the opportunity to complete their check-in transaction on the evening before their flight, leaving them virtually hassle-free on the morning that they travel. For added convenience, only one immediate family member needs to check-in for a family group, once all tickets, passports and bags are provided together.
